Lifestyle Services
All clients who attend the State funded service have an Essential Lifestyle Plan which states each individual's goals and activity choices.
- Emphasis is placed on improving the communication skills of all clients. Assistance is given to augment communication through the use of Makaton signing and Compic symbols, where appropriate.
- Assistance is given with literacy, numeracy and money skills.
- Health and personal development is promoted through self-care, hygiene, exercise and social skills programs.
- Woodbine owns a shop in the main street of Warracknabeal, "CraftWorks". Craft and community access activities operate from this shop. Stencilled bags, woodwork, cards, handmade paper and party needs are produced and sold.
- Relaxation is promoted through music and sensory therapy. A specially designed room includes equipment to aid sensory stimulation. A heated pool is used for hydrotherapy.
- Access to the community is promoted and participation in community-based activities is encouraged, including
* Senior Citizens, where appropriate * Neighbourhood House programs * Local TAFE programs
- Music and drama groups attending community concerts.
- Specific activities are provided for clients who are ageing or who can no longer participate in work options. Outings, relaxation and craft work are an integral part of this program.
- Woodbine provides an activity program at Birchip for a small number of clients.
